The history of Zambartas family in wine goes back to the ‘70s when Akis Zambartas went to France to study Chemistry in Lyon and then Enology in Montpellier. Fast forward to 2006, Akis decided to follow his dream and established his own boutique winery in Ayios Amvrosios. That was when Marcos, his son, quit the corporate world and became a winemaker, continuing his father’s vision. Today Zambartas winery owns 18.2 hectares of vineyards, at an altitude of 800 meters, whilst it also sources indigenous grapes from a closely knit group of local farmers. The winery aims at maintaining its small size while investing in own vineyards to eventually meet all its production needs. Marcos and his team wish to be known for high-quality wines made from indigenous grape varieties using sustainable viticulture and winemaking practices.
