The winery was founded in 2015 by Daniel Anastasis, a visionary Cypriot - S. African entrepreneur passionate to give back to his birthplace, the village of Farmakas. Daniel found in his winemaker, Evangelos Bakalexis, a perfect match for preserving and reviving the century-old high-altitude vineyards of Farmakas. The team embarked on its mission and creates now distinct premium wines from the indigenous varieties while continuing to use traditional techniques such as amphorae fermenting. Farmakas is a terroir rich in biodiversity – the winery’s vineyards are at an altitude of 1100-1350 meters, the steep slopes are dry-farmed and can be catered only manually.
